This book told the essentially true story of a physician who took advantage of his position of trust and respect to have affairs with women. It is fictional, primarily the story of one woman who took him to trial and finally (spoiler alert!) received a settlement of 2.8 million dollars, when it became obvious to the physician that she was in possession of a damaging tape of their interaction in a colleague’s office. This story is a valuable and educational expose of what happens all too frequently, and how. However, I must say, from the inside of the medical profession (my husband is a physician, honest and caring to a fault) I hope that this does not lead people to believe that the majority of physicians are this way. Two or three is too many, certainly, and it is a case of power making one think “he” is invulnerable and not susceptible to the same rules as others. The book was very well written in that regard.

This book had me riveted from the first page! I pretty much limit my pleasure reading to the drudgery of the stair master, and this is the first book that has ever caused me to wish my workout would last longer! The author has done a masterful job of taking on a very serious topic — doctors who abuse their patients’ trust — and weaving it into a highly interesting and suspenseful story. I very much came to “know” the characters, and just when I thought I knew where the plot was headed, another twist! I was sad when the book ended, and look forward to another submission from this author!

I really liked this book! I can empathize with Betty, the main character. Being a smart, successful, super-hot and vibrant woman whose husband puts her on the back burner would be a really tough situation. While Stan is nice enough to her, he certainly doesn’t realize what a treasure he has – and he wasted it. Betty struggles with the fact that she’s got a super great life and materialistically, she has everything she wants. But strong, burning LOVE and APPRECIATION is more important. What a dilemma. Can you have both? Yes. 🙂

Betty Boomer is in her mid-40s. Dissatisfied with her marriage and the direction of her life, she decides to reach out to her college boyfriend, Michael. Michael, the flashy casino manager, is the exact opposite of her husband Stan, the workaholic banker. Any woman would be lucky to be married to the loyal Stan, however, the passion has long left their marriage. Betty flies to Vegas to meet up with Michael, finding the flame is still very much alive and things with him are exciting and unpredictable. The two begin a year-long, long distance affair, but when Michael asks Betty to leave her husband, she’s forced to decide between the two…the book serves as a cautionary tale that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Love this book ! Situations as old as time. You may think someone has the perfect life. Doting husband , standing in the community , money and a job that lets you travel to some beautiful places, all expenses paid. This was Betty’s life. But behind closed doors ( as often is ) things were quite different. I think the story was beautifully written. You could understand the feelings of all the characters , especially the mess Betty got herself into. I really didn’t know how the author was going to end this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending . A great book about finding and being true to yourself. Stepping back and taking inventory and having the courage to follow through.
